Brittani Farrell has been teaching private voice for almost a decade. She graduated from Colorado State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s in music education, and from the University of Northern Colorado in 2017 with a dual master’s in voice performance/pedagogy and choral conducting.
Currently, Brittani is working on a master’s in communication sciences and disorders, which she plans to use as a speech-language pathologist rehabilitating injured voices, and as a singing voice specialist rehabilitating injured singers. As someone who has suffered from and understands vocal pathologies, Brittani has a unique perspective on the emotional connection people have with their voices. Her pedagogy is founded in anatomical/science-based, motor learning (systematic application of individual skills), and trauma-informed concepts that will help students of any age understand their body, body map, and emotions as a reference to their instrument.
Brittani’s performance history has included performing the roles of 'Cherubino' in Mozart's Le nozze di figaro, 'Laurentia' in John Duke's Captain Lovelock, 'Praskovia' in Franz Lehár's The Merry Widow, and 'Nellie' in a short scene from the musical South Pacific by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Her vocal style is especially fitting in the genres of musical theatre, contemporary, and jazz. She has received first place (2017, 2012) and second place (2013) awards in the musical theatre category at the National Association for Teachers of Singing state competitions, as well as being selected as a featured competitor in the NATS regional competition in 2013.
